eLEARNING DEVELOPMENT
We are eLearning developers that provide a comprehensive online presence for effective distance learning. eLearning is the new hot topic for educational institutions and even businesses. With the current pandemic doing its rounds throughout the world, the term eLearning is used ever so often. Other terms such as Online learning, Electronic learning, Digital Learning, and Educational technology are also frequently used. So what is it really?
Understanding eLearning is really quite simple. In a nutshell, eLearning is learning by using cellphones, tablets, or computers to access educational content outside of your traditional brick and mortar classroom. In most cases, it refers to a course, program or degree delivered completely online and in the cloud. In other cases, it can be a curriculum loaded onto an electronic device that does not require an internet connection to access it.
From the early days of content delivery in the form of portable document formats (PDF) to a complete renaissance into the use of multimedia components. This is made possible by using animation, quizzes, gamification, sound, video, and graphics. This eventually is delivered using a software-driven Learning Management system(LMS).
Educational technology and eLearning can occur in or out of the classroom. It can be self-paced, non-simultaneous learning, or maybe instructor-led, simultaneous learning. It is suited to distance learning and in conjunction with face-to-face teaching, which is termed blended learning. Educational technology is used by learners and educators in homes, schools, businesses, and other settings.

IS eLEARNING FOR ME?
That really is up to the student as a large amount of discipline is involved in making a success of self-paced learning. Due to eLearning courses offering the flexibility to fit into a student’s available time schedule, an eLearning student must be self-disciplined to work through the material on a consistent and regular basis in order to keep up with the rest of their classmates. Usually, a textbook is required just as it would be in a regular on-campus program. Although you may not be sitting in a classroom with other students, eLearning courses are often comprised of a group of students who learn the material separately, but simultaneously and are expected to interact with one another about the material throughout the week via discussion boards, typically through an online classroom management system.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF eLEARNING?
eLearning happens around your schedule, at your pace, and at any place you choose. If you can maintain the necessary self-discipline, the benefits are almost too numerous to count. You can cover the material when you have time, go over it as often as you need, all without traveling to the classroom. There are no parking problems or expenses, transportation fees, athletic fees, housing, and food service fees, plus you can take the class from any location with internet access. There have been many studies showing that eLearning students retain the material to a significantly greater degree than face-to-face instructor-led classes. The content delivery is consistent and can be easily repeated if needed to gain a better understanding. It is a fact that repetition leads to better retention.
